A question about : Assistance with buying low cost white goods?

Hi any suggestions/ideas gratefully received.

Are there any charities in Glasgow who help out people on low incomes with a way of them buying low cost white goods such as cooker/fridge/washing machine? The person is a pensioner who has moved quite a distance but had to leave pretty much all their furniture etc behind. Starter Packs In Glasgow seem to have stopped supplying their qualifying clients with white goods but still supply beds, etc. There appears to be so many charities in the city collecting furniture, etc to raise money for homeless etc but white goods are a big financial outlay if you are on low income. Unfortunately I cannot help out due to several debts of my own but I have offered the use of my washing machine and the odd hot meal.

This person has no transport so buying from gumtree or similar could be tricky as where they live is up a few floors and they would not be able to move heavy items them-self due to their age.

I want to help but not sure of the best way. Thanks in advance.

• Are we talking new or used?
  There are many charity shops selling used white goods and will deliver for extra payment. Heart Foundation is one, there is a charity shop in Broomloan Rd about 100 yards down from the roundabout on the left. There is another one on Dumbarton Rd close to Keith St.
  Not a charity shop but a second hand shop which always get good comments for the quality of it's white goods is on Victoria Rd, opposite the Queen's Caf!.
• Either new or secondhand but I presume they would be better looking at secondhand as money is tight for them. If they deliver for a small fee that would be great as long as they are ok with lots of stairs. I think I know the place in Victoria Road you are talking about. Sunshine? I've not been to it but have definitely heard of it so sounds like its worth a look.
  I did suggest the Scottish Welfare Fund which gives help for people in need but they weren't keen as they thought they would have to be assessed by a social worker. This person does not have any money, etc and has been sleeping on the floor of their new place for a few weeks with no cooker, etc. They are getting some furniture items from Starter packs but no white goods. I might print off an application form about the fund anyway and let them see it/urge them to fill it out.

• See if there is a local free cycle and see if someone would deliver, or even put on gumtree and put in ad if they would deliver
