A question about : Is applying for Deputy the right path?

Hope someone can help! I'm not sure what I need to do in relation to my uncles finances. The issue is this....

My uncle is in full time care, he has severe Downs Syndrome and dementia (67yrs old).
My Father had left my uncles bank account in the hands of the home but my Father has recently passed away.
My sister and I are my uncles only remaining relatives in the UK.
His medical dependencies have recently become such that we have to move him to a more medical based care home.
He is now bed bound & cannot read, write, or really communicate verbally.
What is the best way for us to take control of the financial side of the situation, legally?
I have heard about applying for a Deputyship, but have also read that this could take three to six months to put in place. He has to move homes as soon as possible and so we want to try and get things in place before he moves.
PLEASE HELP!title=Frown

  • Does your uncle have an allocated Social Worker? Social Work department should be dealing with this, not you. If not, have you contacted them?
