A question about : Anyone else...

Does anyone else sometimes quite fancy the idea of their own personal cheerleader? I often think I would quite like one when things are not going to plan or the going gets tough!

Best answers:

  • I know what you mean. Sometimes it would be nice to have someone who can pick you up and give you that little bit of determination or get up and go.
I'm not the most coordinated of people but here goes:
Give me an H! (Tries an H)
Give me an A! (Tries an A)
    Give me a Y! (Tries a Y)
    Give me a B! (Tries a B)
Give me an E! (Tries an E)
Give me an L! (Tries an L)
    **Clumsily attemps the splits**
    **ruffles pompoms** GOOOOOOOOO Haybel!!!!
  • Hail yeah...I've always fancied my own team of cheerleaders.
    Gigadee gigadee...
  • Nah I'd rather stick to knowing that I can always turn to trusted friends, who have stuck with me through thick and thin and will always talk straight with me when I need it most rather than sugarcoat stuff.
Sometimes though it feels really good to ride rough waters and come out the other side all by yourself. Strengthens your resilience and belief that you can take whatever life throws at you.
  • I hate everything about cheerleaders and cheerleading - false excitement and sugary smiles - ugh!
Just give me someone to pat my back, hold my hand or say 'oh well, **** happens sometimes' and that'll do me.
  • Thanks guys. Really grateful for all responses and some good ideas and food for thought thank you. I am normally pretty good at motivating & encouraging myself and have weathered a fair few storms and dont need or want things sugar coated, but more a pat on the back and gentle words of encouragement or support and reassurance sometimes...
It was a very lighthearted comment just something I think on the bad days!
  • I'd have a cheerleader. Not sure she could spell out Haybel with my Pom poms but I'd let her have a go
  • I'd settle for someone being on my side occasionally.
  • Hugs Judi.
  • Categorically no. False enthusiasm is something I just can't stand.
  • Hello Onlyroz if you see my last post ive explained a little more fully what i mean.
  • Post of the year.

  • Some interesting views of cheerleading here...I think looking up some all-star competitive work would be useful.
Competitive routines are bloody hard work, and absolutely nothing to do with pom-poms, giggling, or yelling inanities
    *steps down off soapbox*
However, most cheerios I've met are genuinely nice people and would be there to pick people up if they're feeling down. So everyone should find a personal cheerleader!

  • I went on a course once and to demonstrate something the course leader had one of us go upstairs and then walk down while all the rest of us cheered and clapped and made that person feel tremendously welcome.
We all then took turns doing that and it was pretty amazing. It was all fake obviously but all that energy of adoration was so uplifting - when I'm down now, I think of it and it makes me smile.
    Yep, I wouldn't mind a personal cheerleader.
  • Its good to feel that people believe in you and want to encourage you and support you.
Its always nice to have someone on your side who is willing you to succeed.
Yey go cheerleaders I'm a fan
