A question about : Another Victory against Monarch

Just to advise guys, yet another victory against Monarch Airlines. Slightly different as this was not for out of pocket expenses but Denied Boarding compensation during the ash cloud (where Monarch re-booked my friends and then denied them boarding). After nearly 11 months of correspondance and being told numerous times that they were not entitled to compensation, we now have the cheque in our hands.

Good luck to all those out there who are still fighting. Persevere, and you shall be rewarded.

  • What was the final straw for Monarch?
  • Richard - I'm not sure really. I went through all the usual channels and kept on being fobbed off. In the end, i managed to get the contacts details of their group lawyer, and wrote directly to him. I made sure they had the mandatory Letter Before Action, and i called him on 2 or 3 occassions. The small claims court documentation was there, ready to be actioned however i gave him the grace of time after speaking with him, as he was a very busy man.
In the end, once he had reviewed my notes, he held his hands up and agreed with our case. All agreed friday lunchtime - cheque on doormat saturday morning.
However, just bear in mind that this not for out of pocket expenses, this is compensation for denied boarding.
