A question about : Animal Testing

I will not buy anything that has been tested on animals its cruel and wrong on all levels. I have just binned a bottle of Vanderbilt perfume because BUAV say its manufactured by L'Oreal who still conduct animal testing. What do others on here think about lab testing?.

Best answers:

  • It's been illegal in the UK to test cosmetic products on animals since 1998.
Likewise it is illegal to conduct intrusive research on any of the great apes (Chimps, Bonobos, Gorillas, Orangutans and of course, humans).
However without animal testing we would not have (or not be as advanced in) mental illness treatment, antibiotics, anaesthetics, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, polio vaccine, TB vaccine, Hep B vaccine, Measles vaccines (let's just say all vaccines - human and farm animal), the eradication of smallpox, HIV treatment, transplant surgery, open-heart surgery, brain surgery (let's just say all surgery), cancer research, virus tracking...and on and on and on...
If I had to weigh up the options of Hammy the Hamster's suffering vs a breakthrough in cancer treatment...sorry Hammy, you're on your own.
  • Awwww, i love Vanderbilt.....i don't check the packaging of anything to be honest. I don't limke animal testing if its cosmetic, but some medical testing, yes.
  • better testing on the animals than testing on me
  • And to think Barry Horne died hoping his death wasn't wasted and testing would be outlawed altogether he would be so upset.
