A question about : Am I entitled to refund from university after not receiving promised qualifications?

Not sure if this is the right section but would be grateful of advice..

I graduated a year ago from university with a degree. However during my course there were several Cisco qualifications as part of one of my main modules, Networking, which I took and then passed.

However the lecturer quit half way through and apparently because he was the Cisco administrator, nobody else had access or rights to provide the qualifications upon graduation. They couldn't seem to get hold of him because he went back to Nigeria (where he was from).

After I graduated I pushed the uni but they didn't seem to do anything. Since then I kind of gave up, but now I'm wondering if I did enough?

I consider these extra qualifications valuable for getting a job and they are also part of what attracted me to the course in the first place.

Can I claim a portion of my fee back if they cannot produce the qualification for me or something? or should I not bother?

• Were these qualifications advertised as being part of the course prior to you applying?
• Did you do this course in the UK?
• Did you take the exams? Were they through pearson vue? You should just be able to contact them to get copies of the certificates if you passed the exams.
  If you haven't done the exams yet were you given vouchers for the exam as they normally have a time limit to use them in so that has probably expired by now as well.
• Who was the assessor? There should of been one, unless you did it online at the manufactures website
  As the university advertised this as part of the course, it is there responsibility to provide an administrator for this, see it as a contract that has been broken by them, they should of replaced the cisco guy with another one, if they couldn't find one that's not your problem its theirs
• I don't see why you wouldn't be entitled to damages of some sort from the university here.
  I think it's time to send a strongly worded letter giving them a deadline to investigate the issues before you take legal steps to remedy the situation.
  You could I suppose, find out how much it would cost to get the same qualification elsewhere and seek reimbursement or seek a partial refund to reflect the fact they haven't delivered what they said they would
