A question about : Advice needed for PPI newbie

I've been aware of the PP stuff without ever properly looking into it. Reason being that of the cards I took out, a couple I basically stopped paying back when I ran into huge financial problems so I don't want to alert the companies to my wherabouts and have them pester me again even if I was due money.

However I took out a loan and a couple of credit cards via HBOS ad I'm reasonably certain I didn't take out PPI on any of them, especially the loan as I remember getting the hard sell for it and not doing it. However I may have switched card provider, think I did to Virgin at one point, and can't remember any details about it. or even have any documentation about being with them - how would I check?

Finally I had a Capital One card forst of all in my naive an dskint early 20s well over a decade ago. Really don't know if I had PPI with that one, and would I still be eligible anyway?

Is there an easy way to go about checking all of this and then getting an application for compensation or whatever? I don't want to think that I'm missing out on thousands somewhere...

  • If you make a complaint, they cannot reactivate the debt if it is statute barred (but can if it isnt). However, if your complaint is successful, they can use the redress against the debt you failed to pay, even if statute barred.
