The 5k challenge!!!

A question about : The 5k challenge!!!

I am Gothrockchic (aka GRC). I have moved over from the Debt Free diary board. I have been Debt Free for a month now. I moved to Edinburgh three months ago to find a Rock Band, so far so good and I have found a guitarist and hope to soon find a drummer and another guitarist.

So the goal is to save Ј5000 Ј2000 will be spent on equipment we need good instruments, pedals and wires etc. Ј3000 will be spent on recording. I figured that it would be best to start saving whilst time is on our side. If it doesn't work out then I can spend the money on a personal project.

So the Ј5k challenge begins, I have Ј477 to start off with which is leftover savings after paying off all debts and using them for a deposit on a flat. I also have Ј82 in Amazon vouchers which we can buy equipment from Amazon too

So the main way is by my wages and any vouchers or extras I get.

• Evening GRC, made my way over from Em's thread. Is there a time limit or is this thread on going? I need to save approx half that but would love to join a thread for support. Problem being I have no disposable income after paying bills, hence it may take me a while!

• I will give you a race...im looking to achieve Ј10k by xmas. Started Friday just past and have around Ј1600...good luck, you can definitly do this is no time!
• Decided to start the make Ј5 a day thread, not sure if I will get Ј10 a day. But I am doing a practise run, so far I have received two Ј5 Amazon vouchers so I am doing well

  Started 13/08/2012. At Ј2k as we speak. In 2 hours will be over Ј3k
• Had a productive day yesterday, went into the bank yesterday to change my ISA I was earning 0.2% interest and am now earning 2.75%
  The best ISA rate is 3% variable so I am happy with that and not having to transfer my ISA is easier
  On another note I am watching a movie a day for a month so am looking forward to my Lovefilm list goes down so I can eventually cancel it and OH can get a free trial
• Another productive day, put a few items on Ebay. There was a day when I hated listing stuff on Ebay but today I am addicted to it
  So three items have gone on and one book I have put on Amazon for its Trade In scheme. I hope to get another one on tonight, so hopefully another Ј5 in the Xmas fund.
  Out tonight we have a Firework display to celebrate the end of the Fringe, normally you would pay Ј12 each to enter the park but we have a date with either a pub on the streets to watch it

• A very successful day shopping wise. My clothing budget is Ј30 and I took a tour of the charity shops for clothes for work. I got 3 skirts all for under Ј10
  I am amazed how great value the skirts are, but I also needed trousers so that will my next weekend sorted. I also need new shoes but I have a M&S gift card for that.
