A question about : 3d/lg

Featuring LG's great new webOS smart interface plus Cinema 3D TV, the LG 42LB650V is superbly equipped for all your TV needs.

CINEMA TV WITH 2D TO 3D CONVERSION

Cinema 3D TV is the popular passive 3D system from LG. It's simpler than the active system but, despite this, in many ways it's superior. For a start, passive 3D TV is considered more comfortable to watch with less flicker. Other technical advantages include a wider viewing angle and brighter images. Then there's the cost and convenience consideration to take into account. The glasses are much cheaper and also considerably lighter to wear. The lack of batteries onboard also means they don't have to be recharged. What's more, with 2D to 3D conversion, you can get the 3D experience with any program you care to watch - whether filmed in 3D or not!

This was part of the reason bought this model. 3d even if not filmed in 3d - that IS what this says above....?

Well it is total cr*p. You get 3 viewing options to enhance the picture. 1. is exactly the same as 2d. 2 and 3 you just cannot make out. (Yes I am wearing the glasses. Total waste of the extra money.

Best answers:

  • All 2D-3D conversion features in televisions won't work very well. It's never worth using them on any set.
Watch content in the form it was made - 2D in 2D, 3D in 3D.
  • It has to analyse each frame and guestimate what its displaying and convert it into 3D. It never is going to be that good.
As above though, its a standard feature on all TVs that do 3D
