A question about : 2015 Wedding

Me and my Fiancee have booked our wedding for BH in August 2015, has anyone else planned that far in front.

We did this as we are having a big wedding with 80 day guests and 200 for the evening.

So far we have;

Booked Venue ( Civil Service )
- Includes Food, drink reception etc

Enquired with Photographer

Should i be further ahead and has anyone any tips.

Best answers:

  • I have a tip for you if you are looking that far ahead....buy some wedding insurance now....
it will cover you when you book everything else incase any of the companies or individuals you use as part of your wedding go out of business...it wont cover any deposits you have already made but it will cover most things if plans alter before the day
Policies are reasonably cheap and you may find that it turns out to be money well spent...
G ood luck with your planning
  • If you want a band/ dj who is particularly popular, you might want to book them soon.
  • Sorry forgot to mention DJ is my uncle he is a professional and does it as his job, so thats booked already
  • HiDeanM09 - congratulations, and you have loads of time, don't worry about being further ahead! We are getting married in less than a year and have only done the same as you. The photographers that we have contacted so far have all been available on a year's notice.
I would suggest taking things slow and not getting everything booked really quickly, or you might end up feeling that you haven't done enough and end up spending more than you need on extra things.
I would also say to get some wedding insurance - well worth the peace of mind.
  • Wow!!! You have booked further ahead than we will have been engaged when we get married, in fact we'll have been together 4 years let alone planning for 3!
Good for you though, we booked about 20 months in advance so that we knew our budget etc.
My tip (learnt from even less than 2 yrs in advance) is don't do too much, if anything, now, for various reasons...
    - Prices change ALOT
    - Companies go bust, new ones appear
    - Trends/fashions/ideas change
    - Most importantly - YOUR tastes change. The last thing you want is to choose something now and see something you like more nearer the time.
You will also find there are areas you can't plan that far ahead, for example when we were enquiring even 2 years ahead one of the photographers we spoke to said she couldn't commit because she was planning to have a baby at some point in the next 2-3 years so we'd need to ask again nearer 12-18 months before! Extreme example but you get my drift.
    Hope it helps!
  • I've booked pretty much everything for our April 2014 wedding just need to book the registra then we're done. I've booked everything since April this year and got this years prices!
    Congratulations BTW
    Steph xx
  • Congratulations!
I think the key is just to try not to let it consume your life for the next 3 years...I read a lot of things that suggest people have a great day at the expense of years of stress and worry and I just don't think it's necessary. We did ours start to finish in around 8 months, so you've loads of time.
  • Hey there Brides to Be!
wondered if anyone else is having their big day in 2015?
myself and my OH are planning on Friday 27th February as it will be 10 years to the day since we met. Cute or kitsch?!
    how organised are you?
    what did you organise first?
are you paying in instalments or in full to secure a better price?
I'm great at creating lists and sublists but finding organising a wedding a massive task.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi DeanM09
    Congratulations!
Me and my OH are planning on 2015 also but February. Got engaged last year and still not had an engagement party!
Need to get ym skates on!
Mind you, tonight he did agree to go to a wedding show at a possible venue so thats good news!
Dont really know when to start planning/booking/paying for stuff so any hints or tips would be appreciated
    Wedding Day: 27th February 2015
  • Congratulations, I got engaged and started planning over 2 years in advance so I'd definately say its a good thing. I found we were able to get more what we wanted for a better price but I'd definately echo the 'get insurance now' as our venue went into receivership so would have been very thankful for the insurance had they not been bought by someone else.
It may seem odd speaking to people in such advance but believe me when I say before you know it, it'll be like us, 3 months to go!
  • I'm another 2015 bride! Getting married on May 23rd. Already have our reception venue sorted, chosen our photographers (two good friends who are amazingly talented), got our colour scheme and I've got the most important thing - the dress.
We're extremely lucky in that my parents are contributing Ј10k towards the cost of the day. That's going towards the reception, dress and possibly stationery or flowers too. The rest will be paid for by us, but I'll certainly be getting my DIY head on nearer the time.
The reason we're planning so far in advance is because we're attempting to buy a house before the wedding and we're also getting married in Swansea whilst planning the whole thing from Leeds - luckily my family are very supportive and more than willing to help!
  • I'm a 2015 bride too, seems ages away! Booked the venue and reception in Rhodes for 11th may! When I go into dress shops and they ask when the wedding is and I tell them, they seem uninterested!
  • Hey!
My OH hasn't proposed yet but we are thinking about a 2015 wedding. We have a budget of €15,000 for 150 guests. Not sure what format our day will take. We've been and looked at the hotel we were considering however with €10 corkage per bottle I'm going to have to negotiate!!
  • We planned 3 years in advance (wedding is next year)
if you need help finding people in manchester let me know, we are there too
  • I will be a 2015 bride Got engaged last year, wedding is planned for 15th August 2015. My biggest fear is that we will pay peak costs because it's in summer & it will end up raining! Would like an intimate ceremony of under 50 ideally, then up to 200 reception guests.
Very excited, I enjoy craft projects so we'll be able to save a lot of costs there. My parents are kindly paying for the wedding, but I will still be bargain-hunting! They have agreed that if we come in under budget they will give us the rest for our deposit so we can finally get out of the renting trap.
  • when is everyone looking for dresses and thinking about colour themes? I am so tempted to do it all now, everyone keeps saying I might change my mind a year down the line and want different colours/different style dress!
