A question about : 123-REG Insecure email Passwords
I have a 123-reg account with email and website.
I became aware over a number of calls to them over the past few days that 123-reg operators can see customers passwords in full!
They say this is only the email account passwords, however, as most people use either the same/similar passwords or password system (for remembering individual passwords), this is surely a concerning situation. Shouldn't the password be secure - like bank accounts, 1st, 5th and 8th letter/number for example?
At no stage does the site advise that the email passwords are in anyway insecure and with over 3.5 million customers is this a wise practice? The 123-reg system also remembers and shows the operator all historic email passwords, allowing for comparison of passwords and evaluation of password systems (if the individual uses them).
Best answers:
- 123-reg? Is this something to do with Santander 123?
- You need to ask this in the correct forum for best advice - This one is specifically for credit card issues, not computer/tecchie stuff.
You confirmed you understood this as part of your signup, so it should be pretty fresh in your memory.
