A question about : Wedding Venue on a budget

Hi

I'm looking for venue ideas in either surrey or sussex.

It'll be a small wedding max 20 guests inc bride and groom.

We'd like to get the venue for Ј1500 or less to include:

ceremony
reception -
wedding breakfast
drinks package - 1/2 bottle wine and fizz for toast
evening buffet
chair covers/sash
maybe a room for the married couple

A question about : Rings

What are your rings made from and why?

I visited the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham yesterday and among the many currently fashionable white gold, there was platinum and palladium.

The Jewellers general consensus is that while white gold is all the rage, it's actually not that great a metal. Rhodium coated yellow gold, which needs re-coating every few years isn't great.

A question about : Parents contributing to Wedding

Me & my fiance are getting married in July next year & have a very tight budget as we have planned to pay for everything ourselves.

Last week, my Mum told me that her & Dad would help out, when I said they didn't need to, she said that they would as they had done the same for my brother.

She didn't however say how much they would contribute. It would be really helpful to know so that we can account for this in our budget & maybe we can look at some things that we thought weren't within reach.

A question about : May 2015 Weddings

Well thought I'd start a thread to see if there were any other brides or grooms getting married next May. My big day is 30th May 2015.
It's only 9 months away so creeping up on us fast.
I think I'm pretty organised, at least that's what everyone keeps telling me and last major things to organise are groom's and groomsmen's suits, invites, wedding rings and honeymoon.

A question about : Wedding Dress from Verydress

Has anyone used verydress.co.uk for a wedding or evening dress? The pictures look lovely but I am a bit worried about how they will be when they actually arrive as they won't send out colour swatches so I am not sure exactly what the colour/fabric will be like. They also don't seem to allow returns (unless the dress is of a poor quality) as they say the dresses are made to measure. This is making me a bit nervous, but I do love the dress I have seen so am hoping someone has used them and can say whether they are good or not.

A question about : July 2015 weddings....

I couldn't see a thread for July so thought I would start one I'm getting married on 4th July. Is anyone else having their wedding the same month?

A question about : Extreme wedding money-saving bride or groom wanted for the Guardian

I'm a freelance journalist for the Guardian's Money section. I have been given permission to post about articles I'm working on, on the MSE forums.

I've been asked to write an article about an extreme money-saving wedding case study. So someone who went to extreme lengths to try to save money on his/her wedding, whether that's by negotiating discounts, spending time not money on stuff or just generally hunting down bargains.

A question about : Wedding Cakes Cheshire

Can anyone recommend someone please? Getting married in June. Was having a family member make the cake which now isn't happening. Met with a lady 9 days ago who sat and chatted with us for ages but hasn't bothered now actually sending the quote!!
