A question about : Advice needed on Water meter.

Hello all!,

Need some advice for my mother who has been told she must have a water meter installed. The following is an email from her, explaining more. Would appreciate any help provided. Thank you!

Just received an email from landlords saying the water co have the right to charge for a meter whatever the financial circumstances of a tenant.

A question about : Does this water bill seem right?

My parents were paying in excess of Ј100 per month for their water bill up until a few months ago. It is now down to around Ј30.00 per month.

My Dad believes this is because he fixed a leaky tap in the downstairs bathroom, but it seems an awful lot of water from a leaky tap! There was at the same time a mains leak that was related to next door.

I am wondering if it's worth investigating this further and how would I go about it?

A question about : Electric heating and hot water

Hi

I've recently bought a studio flat for myself but it has no heating and a large, copper cylinder for the hot water. I want to install heating and update the hot water system to something more efficient but my options are limited as it's a Grade II listed building, so no gas or solar panels for example.

A question about : non-metered percentage rise

Hi, I've just checked my bill for next year's water supply & sewage service and it's showing a 7.4% rise over last year, from just under Ј550 to about Ј590.

Is this percentage normal in the industry for this year, and if excessive what can I do about it?

Does anyone have any experience or advice on whether gettnig a water meter might save money or not?

I have a natural reluctance against the idea in case my billis astronomical, but this is emotion not fact.

Anyone help?
