We jointly claimed WTC for 6 months (2 years ago) - and according to HMRC, we were overpaid to the tune of Ј1800 - this came to light after a court summons was sent (which scared the pejabers out of me and I wrote back agreeing to pay anything

A question about : FT student transfering to PT & self employed. Benefits?

Hello All,

I am currently on a FT course at uni. There is a possibly that I will not be able to continue with this uni. I am awaiting some resit results.

I have applied for a PT course at a different establishment in case I can not return to my current course.

I am wondering where I would stand with benefits and being a PT student as I will not be entitled to the student loans.

A question about : Child Tax Credits

I am aware of Working Tax Credits but have not been aware of Child Tax Credits. We have been in receipt of Child Benefit, but not of Child Tax Credits. I have been medically retired for many years and realise I am unable to claim for Working Tax Credits. However I have not been aware that I would be eligible for Child Tax Credits.

Last tax year I slightly underestimated me income (not on purpose) and I'm left with an overpayment to pay back.
I had estimated my income at Ј18k and I actually earned Ј19.5k.
HMRC are reducing my 4weekly payments by Ј150, I'm 2 reduced payments in and I'm finding it a struggle.

Can I ask HMRC to reduce this amount?

can anybody help?

My girlfriend and i have been seeing each other for a little over a year, we havent had the best of times due to me going through a messy divorce.

Since i left my now ex wife, i have been staying at various friends and families homes, renting rooms because im not in the financial position to rent a flat or house, moving on when i have outstayed my welcome so to speak.
