A question about : student accommodation in London

Hi. My son is mid way through his first year at a Uni in central London. At the moment he is doing the daily commute from the South Coast but from September 2015 he would prefer to live in London. His uni does not offer student accommodation and the agencies they referred him to are expensive.

A question about : Is this illegal

I'm sure this MUST be Illegal? If its not, then I think going to university is a good way to make Ј21k over 3 years and get some qualifications

The student loan is Ј7500 per year. You only pay it back if you earn over Ј18000 after graduating.

After graduating, I only plan to earn Ј10000 per year (only want to work part time)

So I would be receiving 3 x Ј7500 and never need to pay it back because I wouldn't be earning over the Ј18000 mark.

One thing I will add, the SLC do employ debt collectors as such, Smith, Lawson & Co. Wouldn't really apply for new students, which I know is what the guide is aimed at, but they do employ them. They may also chase if a student slips from HMRC's radar.

A question about : Clear Student Loan

I have a student loan (with the SLC from 2001-2004), which after the payments this year will total around Ј3800. I wish to clear this as its attracting higher interest rate than the bulk of my savings accounts.

If I were to ask them for a settlement figure now, I guess this wouldn't include anything paid since April 2014 (as they dont recieve any data until my employer sends another P60), or would they take into account my figures from payslips?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at his,

I started living independently in September 2012 where I moved away from home and got a job etc. In May 2014 I moved to France where I was under the impression I would be working a well paid job with accommodation included, this was a fairly relaxed environment as I had worked with my employer in the past so didn't feel I should put any pressure on. (I learned from this mistake)

A question about : Is this a scam? Laureate Online Education & University of Liverpool MSc programmes

Hi there,

I've enrolled in one of their MSc programmes, but I have concerns and I am worried if this might turn out to be a scam!?

Most of the so called faculty staff I have deal with seem sales and definitely not based in the UK! None of the issues raised are being resolved or looked at, but in the same time they are being pushy and auto-enrolled me in further module, without asking for my consent and I have expressed no intention of enrolling in these etc.
