I wish to register a new limited company where my wife will be a Director and i'll be the Secretary. (I shall be selling clothes on the web - HOPEFULLY)

Searching on google there's loads of companies out there that would do it for you.

Can anyone recomend a company i can use or should i do it myself?

A question about : VAT number reverse lookup for validity

Just wondering how your businesses validate a VAT invoice raised first time without accompanying a registration certificate copy.

For example, if company XYZ sends a VAT invoice with VAT ref no: 123456789, how do you make sure 123456789 belongs to XYZ itself. To speed up the payment process, sometimes its difficult to send letters requesting VAT certificate. Is there any electronic means, like looking up a website?

A question about : PC Repair Business

Hi All

I have recently thought about starting a PC repair business on the side.

I have designed and distributed a number of flyers around the local area (through letter boxes at the moment)

I have also thought about placing some in newsagents windows etc.

I have spoken to a couple of people who have helped me decide on a pricing structure which is far below the local PC shops/PC world etc.

Does anyone have any top tips on how to further generate business? As yet I haven't had a single bite.

A question about : Credit card machine for my sml business

Can anyone help me out? I own a small business which accepts cash or cheque only but i am thinking about having one of those streamline credit card machines but there is a fee, daily charge and more if your customers uses it !!!

Does anyone know which one is the cheepest to go for? as money is tight what with just starting out......

A question about : How to best word a letter chasing payment of invoices

Hi

Been working for my Dad since April, on a local magazine which operates as part of a franchise. The magazine is free and we cover printing costs via selling advertising.

I mainly do the admin, including the invoices. So far most people have paid (eventually), some after a prompt by a second invoice, or sending an email if we have it on file.

A question about : Self-employed, do I tell tax office?

I will be self-employed part-time starting next week, I'll be earning around Ј85 per week. As I won't be earning enough to pay tax, do I have to register with the Inland Revenue?
