A question about : Keeping the boat afloat

Our family own a motor boat, a modest sized sea going cruiser. Not a great money making project I know, but we have always had a boat and she is our third boat in 20 years of marriage. Our children have been brought up in a boating family.
Our boat was built in 1986 and is the last known survivor of a once proud boatyard in Southampton which has followed the demise of all but one of its craft, and is no more.

A question about : A small, increasing debt

Hi.

I have a free graduate overdraft of about Ј1,250 which is ending this month.

For the next three months I anticipate my debt increasing by Ј20-Ј40 each week, as I am doing some unpaid work experience and my part time job does not cover the bills. This will lead to a total additional debt of Ј240-Ј480.

I was going to move the overdraft to an interest free credit card offer. What will be the best and cheapest way to handle the weekly overspend?

hi, does anybody know how to get a refund from these guys. they have taken Ј69.99 from my account without my consent. anybody have dealings with them? many thanks for your help

A question about : Some basic advice from an ex CAB counseller

How about a 'sticky' at the top of this board with some basic advice?

Many of the posts here are the same to a certain degree but I feel there are important pieces of advice being fragmented across many posts and threads and some things are not even being mentioned - possibly for fear of upsetting someone.

A question about : Pay off which debt first?

Hi guys - some advice please...
I have an Abbey loan with approx 6,900 left to pay - paying 240 per month - interest set when loan started - 6.5% which is added to the total - so would I save by paying this off first or not? Settlement amount is not much less than outstanding amount...
Also have credit card with approx 8000 on - interest free as I managed to transfer to Egg on aniversary date...thankyou Martin!! paying 174 per month on this one.

I am a student graduating this summer and I was hoping for some advice on how to handle my student loan. I currently owe Ј15000 to the bank payable at an interest of 1%+BLR.

1. My first question is, how do I calculate my interest rate. Taking 0.055*15000*12 doesn't seem to give me my interest per month. As the contract was produced on the 23rd of February the interest rate started at 5%. With that rate I needed to pay 221.74 for 83 months and a final payment of 221.78.

Looking to borrow Ј6000 - Ј6250 as a unsecured loan with no insurance protection, looking for a fixed apr and no early repayment penalties and even the option to overpay if funds allow...any opinions would be greatly appreciated
