A question about : Have you ever asked for your bus fare back?

I get the bus to and from work five days a week and for the past six months it hasn't been on time once. A big banner on the bus says that if you're not happy with your journey you can ask the driver for your money back.

I was wondering if anyone has ever done this, I think quite a few occasions I've been deserving of my money back but haven't asked because I didn't want to make a scene on the box and hold everyone else up who was probably also late to get home from work to.

Thank you for any thoughts or experiences title=Smile

Best answers:

  • Never heard of it... it probably works fine until he sees you standing in the rain one day and just sails past
  • I think I've seen this on First buses on the rare occasions I travel on them in Aberdeen. Here's a link to the Bristol service, it's a bit more specific in when the refund can be given though:
    https://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/bris...mise/index.php
That offers a form to fill in to make the claim, maybe check the website for your own area's bus service to see if there is anything similar.
  • Personally I would write to the company's local office rather than troubling the driver.
I would also write to the office of the Traffic Commissioners serving the place where you live.
  • I have done it to twice on the pronto (Trent Barton) bus as it got into Chesterfield 20 mins late.
This in turn meant I'd not be able to scuttle through to the train in time to get me back to Liverpool so I used the returned money to help pay for a cab.
I guess the system isn't abused as much in Notts as I think it would be where I'm from.
You have to fill in a slip and sign for the money from the driver.
