A question about : Energy Bill Calcs

Long story short N-power bill saga meant i didnt get a bill for 13 months then when it landed it seemed way to high, exec complaints arranged testing of meter, meter was not registering any use at all as screen was blank so they couldnt test for accuracy.

Meter replaced N-Power refuse to rebill the account as the meter was apparently displaying something up until september. They have agreed to rebill the account from september to now which i dont accept. All detailed in this thread

Anyway im pushing to get the entire bill recalculated from July 8th 2013 to today 27/02/2015 (86 Weeks) using the meter readings from a general week.

N Power seem to want to use 10 days but essentially the figure should amount to the same. So my data:

(Zoom button in top right of pic)

I based figures on 5 months Winter Usage & 7 Months Summer Usage - Does this sound right ?

This is an Economy 7 Tariff, However i had a super tariff which i dont think had the standing day charge, i have left this in as 21p per day is not going to be bank breaking

My Account upto November 31st is Ј1380.xx, this is quite a difference from what i have worked out adding an extra 3 months

  • Any one able to have a look ?
  • That looks pretty comprehensive. Nothing sticks out as being incorrect at first glance. The problems is....you know your consumption....we don't....so I cannot say if it is high or low. I assume you have used the correct tariff for that time for your calculations.
Personally, I would have kept the calculations in kwh for as long as possible and then made the conversion to Ј as a final total. Rather than converting to Ј first and going from there. That way it makes it easier to see what you estimated you used per day, per week, per month in kwh in both summer and winter.
So (if I have undersood your spreadsheet correctly)
In winter, you have calculated that you use (in an average week) 164kwh Night and 32kwh Day. (why did you not use any more kwh's on the 24/2/15 day time meter read, there are two 32's)
....This then averages at 23kwh night and 4.5 Day which makes a total of 27.5kwh total.
Your night use percentage is therefore around the 83% mark. Which if correct is very very good, but also very high. Many people on e7 struggle to get over the 60% night usage mark.
For summer you have just removed all night use bar some hot water heating. Which is a logical assumption. However that means, in summer, you use only 4.5kwh per day (and winter for that matter)? Even when I am out during summer my background use can hit 4.5kwh by itself with everything but essentials off.
I am not saying it is wrong by any means....just that usage is so individual, it is hard to know. How big is your flat?
In summary, your calcs seem ok (only given it a quick glance), but ...like I said, you know your usage!
P.s You should compare and look at alternative tariffs. Your night tariff is good, but your day tariff is appauling. First Utility an isupply have some good e7 tariffs at the moment.
