Sad to say bye to Orange Wednesdays? Simple trick to bag a year's 'free' cinema

Let us know if you got one and tell us how many films you see with it!

Best answers:

  • Does anyone already have a Cineworld annual pass bought with Tesco Clubcard vouchers? It would be great to hear from people who have. I'm really enjoying mine when it's kind of "free"
  • How is using Ј96 worth of Tesco points the same as Free?
This is the type of marketing that this site rails against, but appears to have no shame in using itself.
Surely this is a double standard?
    Shameful MSE.
  • If the "annual pass" referred to is the same thing as the Cineworld unlimited then at Ј96 "worth" it is just less than half price of the cost of the unlimited (Ј196.80).
If it was "free" how would Cineworld finance the cinema's? They are not a charity. Surely no one on MSE is so dumb as to believe that something is actually totally free just because the word free is used to describe it. Perhaps "half price" would be a more apt descriptor.
Even at full price (which I will have to pay) it is still a proposition worth the consideration of MSE.
I reckon I would have to see about 28 films to break even with the annual fee. Obviously the more you go to the cinema the cheaper it is. It is somewhere to go for an afternoon or evening's entertainment. Sitting in a boring pub for an hour can cost you Ј6 or Ј7 for just a couple of drinks. I am very interested in the unlimited pass and would be grateful for any advice from people who already have one.
  • Thanks for the comments!
I considered the pass 'free' because I've not done any extra Tesco spending to get it - just shopped normally. I also shop in Aldi, Sainsbury's and sometimes Waitrose depending on where the bargains are, so I haven't been deliberately spending there to get more vouchers.
I'm using petrol to get there and spending more on taking the kids to see films with me so Cineworld's marketing has worked in that way - and on the Pick n Mix but I'm fine with that - it's simply free fun for me
I think I've been to the cinema most weeks since I got it now, although some weeks I've been twice and some weeks not at all, so it should even out.
We went twice one Saturday to see the Frozen Sing-a-long then stayed for another film - I've forgotten which one though. I'll update the post if I remember what it was!
I'm trying to max it out while I have it (obviously) but I consider it a "bonus" anyway so if I don't average out at one a week over the year I'm not too fussed (at the moment). That may change when November gets nearer
  • PS stockton, I think the price for "extras" such as 3D films probably differ depending on what part of the country you're in. It's not something I've checked as I haven't been to one since I got the pass.
If you want the special comfy seats that does cost extra at the one I go to.
