Is tax payable on cashback earned from 1-2-3 current accounts or credit cards?

Just wondering.

A question about : Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering Ј150 for switching

The Daily Mail are reporting that Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks are now offering Ј150 to switch to one of their current accounts. They require a Ј1000 pay-in each month but no direct debits mentioned (guessing the article was referring to the Current Account Direct).

A question about : Barclays bank problem

This is my first post, sorry if it is in the wrong forum.

A very Brief outline
I had a phone call from Barclays in the middle of December telling me that they had paid my barclaycard 9999.99 (without my authorisation) in January (almost a year ago) and I now need to pay them back.
I'm just wondering if any one has ever heard of anything like this happening before. Are banks allowed to lend you money without telling you?

A question about : When opening a current account...

Hey everyone,
I have a question, aimed particularly at those who have several current accounts.

When opening a current account, and asked where else you have an account..
..do you normally give details of every account you have and where. Also, what about the various products you have with them?

Can they check to see whether you have any other accounts?

I was wondering whether having multiple current accounts (more than 1) at different banks/ BSs counts against you?

The Sunday Times is looking for someone who feels they were not informed adequately that their fixed rate was coming to an end, or are having trouble transferring the money to another account - perhaps because the provider will only issue a cheque, which could take time to send out and cash.

A question about : How many bank accounts can you open?

Just following on from someone's advice to have separate accounts for bills etc etc, how many CAN you have open? We were turned down for a new account a while ago but think that may be because we applied for the wrong account (another one with overdraft etc, which we don't need). But it must be possible to get a few on the go if it is being advised? Does anyone have a few on the go? Any advice on where to go for a bog standard cash in and DD/SO out kinda bank account?
