A question about : Sending money abroad

I am trying to send money from my Santander current account to an account in Mauritius for which I have an IBAN and SWIFT code. The details I have specify a correspondent Bank of HSBC Bank Plc in London, with account number and SWIFT code.

The online foreign transfer option at Santander offers me no option to specify the correspondent information. Can anyone tell me from experience if the money will go through without this information?

A question about : Tesco Bank

I just wondered if anybody else has had an experience like this, or is it just me that these things seem to happen to?

So a couple of weeks ago I decided to open a current account with tesco for the 3% interest element. I applied online and was accepted. 3 days later I got a call from the underwriters saying that a letter had been sent out asking for ID to be sent in but I was to ignore it as they had identified me already as I also have a Tesco CC.

I was calling N&P about a separate issue, and they just informed me that they're switching from using the Cooperative Bank's systems to those of HSBC.

It couldn't be a worse time, given that HSBC have been in the news for UK tax avoidance.

Perhaps the ethical score on MSE for N&P should be re-considered because they are now lining HSBC's pockets more.

A question about : Worth the hassle to Switch for bonus? (joint > singles)

The reason I say hassle is that me and my wife have a joint bank account, mortgage etc.
To take advantage of the switching bonuses I considered each of us switching and thus receiving 2x bonuses.

But obviously this can't happen from a joint account into 2 single accounts.

So I guess I'd have to go into our current bank (santander) and close/split up our joint account, each set up a current account THEN use the switching service.

Hi.

I applied for this account on 16th Feb - only to get the 'we'll be in touch within five working days' message. I thought since they credit check you online, that the decision was instant?

Nothing adverse on my credit file, all green, never missed a payment or paid late.
