A question about : What Is The Problem With My Freeview Box

When i went to tune in my TV for the switch over the menu came up ok on the screen but i could not get any channels i thought that it might be the aerial was the problem

i left it for a few hours then i noticed that there was a red light instead of a green one on my Freeview box and the box is not working now . it is a Bush digital box from Argos and my TV is a Sanyo model

Somebody help me out please

  • As you have a Freeview box, you retune that for the switchover, not the TV.
  • Probably been bricked by the switchover, time for a new box. I'm assuming the Bush box is fairly old. Or it could be stuck in standby, try switching it off and on again at the wall and check if your remote is working.
To check remote point it at a digital camera/phone and you will see a blue/lilac glow when you press a button
Edit, Good point Heinz, did not read OP post properly.
  • No i am not able to switch it on manually . Yes the batteries are inserted in the right way . Yes they are new batteries
When you switch it off and then on from the socket the light is green for about 1 - 2 seconds and then goes red
  • It's going to standby when the light goes red. What do the instructions say?
  • So what happens when you power up the box from the remote?
  • How did you check the remote is working? Did you try looking at its business end through a digital camera or phone?
  • Hard reset? Switch off at the wall, wait a couple of minutes and switch on again. Try doing that from the box, not the remote.
  • I had a TV once that was switched off using the red button on the remote but that could only be switched back on again using a channel (number) button.
  • I also thought the problem was with the Bush freeview box but discovered a battery in the remote was dead. Replaced and green light returned!
  • I don't think Wester will still need any help with his query since he posted it in April 2012!
