A question about : Welcome to the Bankruptcy Board

Hi and Welcome to the Bankruptcy (BR) Board.

Hello and Welcome, Many of the posters on here have been through bankruptcy. They will be able to help, advise and also offer you support. We do have posters who have/do work for the OR and Debt charities too.

Written by Fermi our board guide:-

Many people find that debt and bankruptcy is the cause or result of a period of great distress and anxiety in their lives. For some this can reach a stage where it is difficult to cope. So I would remind you that The Samaritans are available to help you through your troubles if the emotional side threatens to become overwhelming.

To post your question go to the top left hand side of BR board, opposite the page numbers and press the New Thread button as shown below:

/
And type in the Title to your thread. If your post doesn't get answered straight away please don't lose heart, it's often due to not being a 100% sure we would be giving the correct answer. If you find your post is not answered and it's on page 2, please 'bump' your post back up the board.

We often ask you to post your SOA so we can see if you have included what you need to:-

Select the MSE format at the end. Copy and paste onto your thread.

What to do if you get an insensitive or hurtful comment

Best answers:

  • Every now and then we have had a number of offensive and insensitive comments made on the BR board.
What do we mean by this?
A person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads is know as a Troll. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch - ooops, modesty! That said there are different writing styles; some brief and some harsh but helpful. If you happen to read them when you are not going through such an emotional time, you may find you are not as offended. So if they have upset you please try not to respond angrily. Most people are simply trying to help.
What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants.
So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you'll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue "Report" icon, as shown below:
  • More 'bumpers' needed
Please join in bumping this thread, whether its just been bumped a minute ago or an hour it doesn't matter

One of the most asked questions is why is this thread not a sticky?

Its been proven not many Newcomers read the stickies first but will read a thread moving up and down the board, eventually when new posters are settled, they will then read the stickies.
Also we 'Bump' this thread, to take the thread back to the top of page 1.
