Water Bills

A question about : Rateable value very high

Hi,

I have recently bought a 4 bedroom semi-detatched property in the Yorkshire Water area. The combined bill for fresh water and sewerage is Ј650pa.

This seems very high to me - my previous 3-bed terrace in the same area was Ј220pa.

I understand that I have the option to switch to metered, and that might be cheaper. For various reasons (extremely high water pressure, long private supply pipe over difficult terrain across land which I do not own, small children) I would prefer to avoid this.

I hope I have put this in the right place.

I was wondering if someone could help me. I haven't lived at parents for about 8 years and only of home every couple of months, I went home last weekend and had a bill from united utilities for Ј1007 I asked my parents who said they have never paid a water bill :/ There was also a letter from the courts in my name about this bill. It was sent about 3 weeks ago and said I must reply within 14 days. There is no number on there to ring about the matter.

Hi, we moved house this weekend and were told by the seller on the TA10 or Ta6 form or whatever it was that there was no meter installed.

Now that we have exchanged, completed and moved in we have found a water meter in the kitchen

It was an old lady that lived here before but she has passed away, do we have any chance of getting the meter removed?

Ive received a rebate of Ј200 from yorkshire water and my direct debit reduced by half. With no changes to my lifestyle over the last year it looks like my water meter is running very slow, ok its hardly moved since checking the last two weeks, now I'm more than happy with this situation but am worried that this will catch up with me at some point, so has anyone had this happen to them and if not can anyone tell me what to expect thanks.

In our previous property (rented) our bill was initially Ј26 a month and then reduced to Ј23 a month after our first year there.

In June last year, I bought a 3-bedroomed flat, and my flatmate and I moved in. Our water bill was set at Ј43.56 a month and when I phoned Thames Water to query it, they pretty much said that 'it is what it is', which I thought slightly odd.
