I have just been sent a letter offering Plumming & Drainage cover for just Ј1.99 per month for the first year. Annual charge is Ј23.88 so there is not extra interest charge for paying monthly. Cover is limited to Ј4000.00 for blocked or cloopsed drains outside your home ( 2 claims per year of Ј2000 ) and up to Ј2000 for plumming or drainage emergencies inside your home ( 2 claims per year of Ј1000 )

Hi all, newbie here!

My boyfriend and I have just bought a 2 bedroom top floor flat and we are trying to work out our monthly budget before we move in. Please could you give some advice on what we can expect our average water bill to be?

I'm not sure whether our water is meter run or not so advice on both scenarios would be greatly appreciated.

Also, we're hoping to install a power shower when we move in, will this make a huge difference to our bills?

Has anyone an idea of the average cost of unblocking a drain. We have just found out the drain in our garden is blocked.. i mean smelly blocked , and we need to have it cleared.

As we are totally new to this anyone have a average cost of getting this done?

A question about : Where is my water meter?

Here's a question for you, where is my water meter?

Until quite recently I lived in a purpose built block of 22 flats, lived there for ten years. The water was on a meter and I got bills, with meter readings every three months. I never thought about it, just paid the bills, but when I got the last bill I got to thinking that in ten years of living in the flat I had never seen, or even known where my water meter was.

i am going to put a bathroom upstairs but the boiler is downstairs and the water storage tank is in the way of the new bathroom. the system is very old and britsh gas recomends that i look into getting an complete new system.

so knowing how expensive they are i called in another company and explained about the upstairs b/room. they recommended a condense combi boiler BUT on turning the tap on he said that the water pressure was not good.

A few weeks ago I posted a thread asking whether a problem I had was a leaking/faulty meter or a leaking supply pipe. It turns out to be the latter ... and I face a potential nightmare.

A question about : Can you get a water meter, removed?

I have lived in my house, for nearly 12 years (it was a new housing association house) and we have always had a meter fitted.
i am separating from my husband, and will be stuck on benefits, for a while, till i get myself sorted.
Is there any way I can have the meter removed? The bill is in both names. I am frightened of not being able to cope with finances, and would like to have a fixed weekly amount to pay each week.
