A question about : Volcanic ash Monarch Airlines

Yay! Only 2 years later - success IN FULL! title=Thanks,title=Bigtitle=ROTFL

Monarch have paid us in full including compensation on top for the second flight which was cancelled the day after the ash cloud issue and so could not be considered extraordinary circumstances. THIS COULD ONLY BE CLAIMED BECAUSE WE HAD 2 FLIGHTS CANCELLED AND THE SECOND ONE WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE ASH CLOUD BUT DUE TO AN ADMIN ERROR.

Just took some pressure from a solicitor paid for from our house insurance.

Just waiting for the cheque and to see the letter, not sure who at Monarch signed it off yet - maybe someone who turned us down before...

That's on top of the insurance payout the Ombudsman forced out of EuropAssistance in March:

HTH anyone else not yet paid out in full.

P.S. Many, many thanks to HXDave, Cityboy, Browntoa, Hugh from Flightmole and everyone else who offered us help and advice. We owe you a beer if ever you are in the Brighton area!

Will post on flightmole as well.

title=Thanks,

  • wow well done! 2 years is a long time to wait.
    we were very lucky we flew with singapore airlines and they didnt have to pay a penny as they're non EU airline but they gave us a nice chunk, and our ins. paid out in the end, even though on the day it happened we weren't insured. we came out very nicely in deed in the end, and had an extra 2 weeks side trip up to Thailand.
