A question about : Thursday 17th January
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of big stuff that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Ziggy - shall PM you in a wee bit - Hi everyone
I failed at NSD yesterday having forgotten to bring my soup to work so had to shell out Ј4 on a sandwich still, it was a nice sandwich!
I also almost went to the chinese on the way home and even walked past it but was good and avoided it!
Have remembered soup today so will have that - have nothing really decent in for tea so might just have pasta with cheese as am out for lunch tomorrow which will be at least Ј10 and out for drinks tomorrow night (lime and soda for me as doing dryathlon) but will probably treat self to a chinese on way home given it's a friday and I'm not spending drinking.
Silly boy still not been in touch so trying hardest not to text but given it's my only hope of a bloke at the moment it's pretty hard - then again, do I want someone who seems not that bothered?!
Also making the most of free tea/coffee and heating at work - Afternoon everyone. Thanks ziggy for starting us off
at the Ј4 sandwich, lulabelle
Just the usual stuff for me today. Left the car at home and walked to the station, picked up the free paper to read on the train, made sandwiches for work etc etc.
Managed to rejig my meal plans to allow me to have a NSD yesterday, but definitely need to go to Aldi on the way home from work. I will stick rigidly to my list though, and I've brought my own carrier bags with me so I dont have to pay for new ones.
Have a couple of geocaching events booked for the weekend - one tomorrow night in Coventry and one on Saturday morning in Leicestershire; but I'll have to see what the weather is like. The forecast is for lots of snow, which may mean I just stay at home rather than risk the travelling. Will save me the petrol costs, and I'm more likely to eat properly (and cheaply) if I'm at home, but it'll cost me in terms of heating, so I guess its all swings and roundabouts.
Have a great day everyone - Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy. What are you making with your LO today?
Zepsgal - Glad to see you're in a good mood! Hope it rubs off on everyone else
Lulabelle - Quit that line of thinking right now! He is not your only hope. I don't know the full situation but my advice is not to stress over it, sounds like early days still so don't worry just carry on living your life to the full & things will work themselves out.
Today I have/will:- - Manually scraped the ice off the car, was really stuck on again today...No, I must resist buying some deicer spray!

- Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
- Log calories using free app
- Check postcode lottery
- Charge phone at work
- Heating off as long as possible & on low when needed, although this is getting more difficult with such low temps at the moment
- Check online banking
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Need to fess up on the GC thread
- Check Gumtree & fleabay

- Do some surveys
- Rejig meal plan now that the kitchen is back in full working order for cooking!
- "Free" guitar lessons tonight on Rocksm1th, thanks to my DH!
- thanks pernicious but really it is - I live in a place with NO (decent) single men and he's a blast from the past I had high hopes for - seems it's not to be
yes Ј4 for a sarnie - crikey BUT it was soooooo nice! Have had soup today but really hungry and trying desperately not to go to shop by work to get chocolate (there is no cake here today which is unusual!)
Have not got much in tonight but trying to avoid going to supermarket so will either be pasta and grated cheese or cheese and biscuits - not the most nutritious but mse and will make a list tonight and meal plan for next week and make sure I do a proper shop on saturday - Did somebody mention wanting a decent single man?
- Short post as no proper internet allowance til tomorrow.
Good news:
Will be getting Ј1000 in my account I wasn't expecting in March.
Getting a payrise after work appraisal from April above inflation. - ha ha - nice one Karb!
- Hi everyone

Things for today:-
Check bank
Email friend
Meal plan
All meals from stores
Sort washing into 2 loads ready for tomorrow
Start planning jobs for the weekend to avoid going out spending!
lulabelle - I feel your pain!
Stay nice and warm all.
xxx - Hey guys,
My apologies for the weird post last night. I'm not feeling too good and a bit of a to-do at work just killed me off.
Thank you to everyone for sending me hugs/pms/thoughts though. It was much appreciated.
Today was better though. Thing at work deemed not my fault (phew). Also my mum finally agreed to go to the doctors (who told her off for not going sooner) so that was another weight off my mind.
Thanks again guys
EDIT: I just saw that I've earned my second star! Woooooo - Good to hear you sounding brighter today carrie
Stopped off at aldi on the way home. You'd think it was wartime. No bread or buns left whatsoever and hardly any fresh meat or fruit or veg. All because a few inches of snow is forecast. Madness! - Hi all!
Lullabelle I really feel for you! My OH who I have been with "officially" for a year now ("unofficially" for two and a bit ) but he was very much like that. Boys are a nightmare!
carrie hope you're feeling better today, I hate it when work stresses out your home life! I had a dream about work last night and went in expecting a b0ll0cking!!!!
Anyways, this is/was me today:
- Checked banking - still no maintenence!
- BLD from stores
- Left purse at home
- Borrowed Ј50 from DB incase money doesn't clear tomorrow - ex says i'll definitely have it by sunday, but I have a wedding to go to tomorrow night and shopping to do!
- Watching TV with DD prepping her for having her teeth out tomorrow by feeding her lots!!! (General anaesthetic)
- Snuggled under duvet again
- Surveys
Well everything hangs on ex paying his maintenence at the moment, when he said he would pay it when he was back from holiday I'm not sure why I expected it within a couple of days of his return. It's now day 6 and still nothing, I should expect this seeing as he was the one that ran up the debts then took no responsibility when we split up. He did it to his ex wife and no doubt he's doing it to his new girlfriend as well.
Ho hum
Jo x - yep, I sent him a text about 230 and no response! I just don't get it - he's the one who's been acting all keen. I do wonder if he has someone else on the go - men can be rats!!!!
grrrrr!
oh well, better move onwards and upwards - going on holiday with great friends in a few weeks and that should be so much fun! His loss - no wonder he's still alone past age 40!
I've also had a NSD - soup for lunch, pasta/cheese and biscuits for dinner and then some chocolate - managed to get 2 x boxes of xmas belgian chocs for 75p each in waitrose (where I live we don't have any other supermarkets - I live on a rock!)
I had thought I'd be able to save a couple of hundred quid this month as I wasn't going out or really spending but a flat I have and rent out apparently has some problems and its going to cost me Ј150 to sort - weekly shop today so not a nsd,but expect to be snowed in for 3 days now so will make it up :-)
That's it for now!
Hope everyone has a great, MSE day x
