A question about : Thompson DTI 6300

I bought a Thompson yesterday at a boot sale it all works but it would seem you cant use it as a PVR unless you subscribe to TUTV is this the case? is there a way around the locked box stitch up!

Best answers:

  • No its not the case, you don't need to subscribe to TUTV, did you get the manual with it? If not I'll look out mine and see if the problem is when you have initially set it up.
  • Thanks for replying I didn't get the instructions but found my way to factory reset did that as well as a HD format it was still the same, If shall I say when watching BBC I press the REC button it says the function is not available only if I subscribe?
  • I'm guessing that then the previous owner of the box had subscribed. If you look at this thread it might help, gives the number to call and how to get into the Engineer's page...

  • There is a useful Thomson forum on Digital Spy.

  • After spending a hour on the phone the answer according to TUTV is because it is an old box?? I would need to have a card so I could have a free months trial and as long as the card is in the box it will record even if I cancel my subscription
  • This is true. I bought one from ebay. I got a card from TUTV and it worked.
The biox was rubbish though, unreliable at recording , kept corrupting recordings and then after a few months died with a flashing light.
Bought an old 40GB Humax 8000T off ebay and then installed the bigger drive from the Thomson and now we are happy!
  • Well I will see how it goes it may well turn out to be bin fodder
