A question about : Swear Filter

We have to endure a swear filter on the forum and it is mostly a good thing as it makes people think about what they are posting rather than the words they would use in normal conversation.

However this filter does not prevent the foul language that comes through to the forum on MSE Martins twitter feed.

Is the shocking revelation of CMA report really vulnerable people tend not to switch and overpay Ј200+ a year? No !!!! Sherlock!

The word sh!t is censored when I cut and paste the quote on to the forum but it is in plain view on the twitter feed.
I am no prude, in fact I swear quite a lot and even have a few words of my own invention that could be considered quite offensive to some but surely what is good for the goose......etc

Either censor the twitter feed or my preference, get rid of it, it has no place on the forum in the first instance.

  • Hi,
While you make a valid point, the swear filter was set up to stop forum users abusing each other, rather than for censorship purposes. It also really helps us to cut down on spammers.
The Twitter feed is not part of our forum structure, and as such we can't apply the swear filter to it. Obviously, it's up to Martin what he tweets so we don't have any sway over that. We won't be removing the feed itself as it's a great way for you to see what he's up to from inside the forum.
    Thanks for your feedback though!
