A question about : Is this 0% credit card trick legal?

To avoid a money transfer fee from a 0% purchase credit card. Can I use a 0% purchase credit card and make a purchase through a streamline machine. Then have the money refunded to a current account debit card? There by moving the money without incurring a money transfer fee.

The reason I ask as I want to use the free cash to offset my mortgage. Is this a clever trick or an illegal one?

Should I just go for an MBNA money transfer card? Is there another way I can get some free cash to offset my mortgage?

I have 2 credit cards and want to reduce my interest. I could apply for a balance transfer card however the credit limits usually start at Ј1,200 and I want to transfer around Ј5,000. Would it be better to go for a cheap loan?

Hi All,

I've read through most of the artciles on here and I have to ask if this process is worthwhile? What returns are people making and is a lot of effort being required?

From what I understand it's a lot of switching etc for very little in return and if you get it wrong the penalty will account for more than any gains that may have been made. I'm happy to be proven wrong and I await with interest your views.

I have to pay course fees to my old employer (which is a local authority) as I have left employment within 2 years of finishing my course. I was thinking of getting a 0% credit card for a period of time but I am unsure if it would be classed as a purchase or balance transfer? I would welcome any advice. Thanks
