A question about : Should I get her a present/flowers for the day?

Hey all,

39 days until we're Mr and Mrs title=Smile I can't WAIT!

I want to get my wife to be a little something that she can either open before (we're not getting married until 2.30) or after we get married.

There's loads of things I know I can get her, however given how things are going to be, I a) don't want to upset her before or b) get her something i.e. flowers that everyone else may get her.

That in mind, has anyone ever received something or given something that may give me some inspiration?

Once again... I CAN'T WAIT!! title=Smile

Thanks

  • Aw - what a delightful challenge!
If you know where you'll be living for a bit, bulbs or a fruit tree? Flowers that keep on giving...
    Have a wonderful day!
  • We're hopefully moving into a larger house in July but how long for, I have no idea. That is a great idea though!!! Love it.
    Thank you
  • How about something to open afterwards.
Beautiful (skimpy) nightdress & glamorous matching dressing gown, a bottle of champagne (or wine if you both prefer), a pair of glasses, some strawberries & whipped cream.
To be opened when the two of you are alone.
  • Thanks Kim Kim
We've already got Champs and Chocolates each day with our room. I've got a plan that whilst she's being entertained by the guests, I'll be going back to the room and decorating it ready for us coming back.
Thank you again, I'm going to go through everyone's suggestions and find some things I can slowly deliver through the day just to show her how much I love her (gush! lol)
    Woop!
  • Not too much through the day - you'll both be busy!
Over the first month, something daily or almost daily though... Need not be expensive - an unexpected note in a slipper or lunchbox saying "I love you" still has the charm & zing!
Get pressing flowers? Forget-me-not holds colour for decades. Packets of seeds like bright nasturtiums or sweet smelling herbs tend to grow fairly easily & have the colour & scent & ongoing happy buzz!
  • My hubby gave me a present during his speech...we got married at Chester Zoo and he adopted a red panda in my name, bought the kids pack so I got a toy one and gave me that in front of everybody
  • My husband wrote me a card and bought me a necklace to wear on the day
  • I like this idea and had thought about this myself.
I was thinking about a bottle of perfume, she can wear this on the day and will always think of our wedding whenever she wears it.
  • lol 3 and a bit weeks till the day and I have absolutely no idea what to get her.
I have an idea but finding the time to sort things out is going to be fun... Lots of work to do to ensure everything's in place
  • My husband didn't get me a present on our day (he's very unromantic but I'm use to it) I got him a boudoir photo shoot which I gave before the day and a letter of congratulations from his football club which I gave during the speeches.
But you could get her a pair of earrings or some perfume so when she wears them she will always think of your special day.
    Good luck

  • Personally I would opt for a small gift rather than flowers....
If flowers were delivered to me on the morning of my wedding they would really have been for everyone elses benefit rather than mine TBH.
I left my parents house that morning and didnt return until following my honeymoon 2 weeks later ,so consquently the flowers would have been better sent to my parents.
Having said all that a gift of something like perfume, scented candles, bubble bath could be a nice touch for when you both return to your home following the wedding.
My husband opted for a pair of earings he had designed himself...
  • My husband gave me a gorgeous box full of goodies the day before our wedding. Useful bits like tissues, lip balm etc, my favourite chocolate bar, my favourite DVD and a gorgeous clutch bag I'd had my eye on for months. Plus a lovely card.
I'd be wary of buying perfume or jewellery to wear on the day, I suspect most brides have their 'perfect' choices planned well in advance. It took me ages to find the right perfume because I wanted one I loved that I'd never worn before so it would always remind me of the day.
After the wedding he found our first dance song on vinyl and is getting that framed for us.
And the room decoration idea is nice, but bear in mind you may not have time to slip away, plus lots of hotels will do this for you anyway, ours did and it was a lovely surprise.
ellay864 I'm so jealous you got married at Chester Zoo!
  • I personally think that as OH is choosing to marry me, and saying that he wants to spend his life with me, that is a gift in itself.
He's also tolerating being the centre of attention all day, despite hating it.
I wouldn't expect him to buy jewellery as he wouldn't know what would go with the dress etc and flowers are already part of the day too. (plus he struggles with buying that sort of thing)
Might be better to have something to give her on honeymoon?
