A question about : Ruthbridge / Cabot
I get a letter through the door last week about a potential old CC debt.
Purchased my first house last year, held another CC since xx ish which is an has been in good order.
I had experian up until last year, nothing bad at all.
Cabot and Ruthbridge letter in same envelope, Cabot saying I'd failed to agree a repayment plan (news to me) and had passed to Ruthbridge . And then Ruthbridge saying they'd be in touch.
I'm certain it must be Statute Barred, but find that hard to believe given I've got a CC and a mortgage.
Advice on how to handle greatly appreciated.
Best answers:
- How many years would it be since you last paid or acknowledge the debt in writing if you did owe it then?
If definitely over 6 years with some leeway, then you could send ---> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...57&postcount=5
If you are not 100% sure then may be worth waiting until you are and/or doing some digging before replying.
Also contact NDL to ask their opinion. Freephone 0808 808 4000 - Checked my credit report at all 3 agencies using a multi agency checker (checks for CCJ's too apparently)
There's nothing visible to alarm, no defaults, no enquiries, no CCJ's.
Any other inputs before I send a prove it letter? - Send the letter here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=2607247
- Funny old world.
Today Ruthbridge send a letter offering me an amazing 80% discount.
Kind of them to offer such a discount. I considered their kind offer for half a nanosecond, bearing in mind they have provided no proof of it, or that it's even my debt.
I can see how some people worry themselves sick about these scumbags.
All these letters are being sent from a PO Box in Huddersfield.
Think its been linked to Fairfax, Westcott, Drysden and others.
