Resin Bonded Driveway

A question about : Resin Bonded Driveway

Hi,

I have received a quote from a local reputable company who specialise in resin bonded driveways. They have quoted an equivalent of Ј125 per sq m.

This is for:
Excavation and much away
Hardcore and compaction
Tarmac preparation layer
Resin bonded finish
Block paving as a soldier course at the entrance and stretcher course around the perimeter.
10 year guarantee
estimated 1 week's effort for a team of 4

The area is 120 sq meters.

This seems very expensive compared to what I estimated block paving to cost, although there are benefits to this products. I'm not sure that the benefits stack up to justify the extra cost.

I will of course negotiate further with them (I enjoy that!) but is the Ј125/sq m similar to what others have paid?

• I researched this a few years ago and at the time it was a cheaper thing to do. Now it's become fashionable and prices have rocketed. Not sure if it's a milking of gullible customers situation or if it's justified by the costs of materials etc.

  Anyway in SE London I hear over Ј100 per sq m is usual
