A question about : Replacing a ceramic cartridge on a manual shower?

Got a slight drip on a mixer shower just below the lever/handle. It's a Marflow Consort C72

I can take the cap off to see that there is a slight leak from the cartridge.

How much should something like this cost to get replaced by a plumber? Thanks

  • Your best bet is to try The Shower Doctor (google them). I've used them a lot and will happily recommend them. However, your shower seems to be quite an obscure make so I wouldn't hold out too much hope of getting a replacement cartridge unless it's used in other makes of showers.
As for likely replacement costs . . . Assuming no problems, then it's a job that can usually be done in less than an hour. :-)
  • As an afterthought . . . . A replacement cartridge is usually the best part of Ј80 - Ј100 anyway, so why not just buy another complete shower & swap the cartridge? :-)
  • It's not a concealed unit - it's exposed like this (if that helps anyone determine labour):-

  • Unless you have serious trouble isolating the hot/cold water to it, then it shouldn't take any longer than swapping the cartridge, about an hour. HTH :-)
