A question about : Removable disk E

Hi . I transfer photos from my camera via Removable disk E . I click Removable disk E , db click DCIM, db, click 101MSDCF which brings up whats in my camera. I can then drag the tiles across into picture files.

Now Im getting a message that there isnt enough space on the removable disk and says I have 99.3MB free of 1.87GB. so it wont transfer any more photos . The red line that shows the capacity of disk E , is right at the full end.

I have only very basic knowledge of how to use computers , emails and the like , no technical understanding, so Id be really grateful if someone could explain ' very simply' please, what I should now do, whether its delete, buy, empty or whatever, to enable me to be able to continue to transfer my photos in the same way again ? Many thanks.

Best answers:

  • When you drag the image files from "disk E" to "picture files", are you copying them rather than moving them?
If you're copying them, then they'll still be on your camera ("disk E"), so eventually you'll run out of space.
Ideally, you'll want to regularly copy them from the camera to your computer (so you have plenty of space for new photos), and then keep regular backups of your computer in case that ever fails.
  • yes once you have copied all pictures to the pictures folder on the computer, you can delete all the files in the 101 folder on removable disk E
  • Wonderful, thank you all very much - Ill trot off and delete some 101 tiles . I should have thought of that myself , --thats the trouble with not having any understanding of what various internal bits of pc's 'do' and are 'for' etc , and just doing to the letter, what youve been told to do to achieve a result. Still, every situation adds a bit to my learning (which some of us silver surfers find slower these days!!)
