A question about : The redundancy board... what its all about

Welcome to this new board. Not one I particularly relish setting up, but in todays economic climate I hope it will be a place of information, help and support to all those who are facing redundancy, have been through it, or are worried it may happen.

The aim is to provide key MoneySaving and rights info - as well as a place to chat and discuss any issues.

A question about : Can I be fired for being off work with depression/stress?

I've been signed off work for about 6 weeks now, my GP originally diagnosed anxiety and depression, which is mainly due to being bullied at work. I've got worse instead of better, the slightest thing can leave me tearful and incapable, I have very little concentration, so don't feel I can go back yet.
Now I am also worrying about keeping my job.

A question about : What happens if company goes into administration?

Not for me but a question for a friend (no, really it is!)

He works for a large company and is entitled to about 14 months worth or redundancy pay. If the company goes into administration would he still get this or is it then just if the Company has enough money left or does it have to ringfence this money somewhere?

A question about : Returning to same company after redundancy.

Hi..

I'm currently half way through my 4 week consultation period and was curious as to what the situation is with regards to tax should I accept the redundancy package on offer and then return to the same company within a month or so in a different role.

My current job is being axed but I am ever hopeful that I may be able to slot back in in another department where my skill set would fit nicely.

I have worked for my employer (This consists of the MD, me and 2 consultants) for just over 7 years.

My MD is a bit niave when it comes to these things, and I know he won't have asked for professional advice, so thought I would try and find out where I stand.

A question about : Voluntary redundancy

My husband workplace are making redundancies but are also offering voluntary redundancies which he wants to take,but we have heard that you are not entitled to any benefits for 6 months,he would get a nice payout but not that great to last the 6 months as we privatley rent our home,have a 4yr old child, i'm nearly 8 months pregnant (his wife) with no other income coming in, and have loans and cards to pay etc

Does anyone know what benefits we would be entitled to if he was to take voluntary redundancy?

I need some help on following specific questions please:

(1) If an employer employs someone who has stolen data from another company knowingly, who is liable for this, the employee who stole the data and/or the company that stores the data on its server?

If it is the employer, can they be sued? If so, how much?
