To keep it short I was made redundant this morning due to company going bang!

I know I can claim from the Goverment and i have been given the forms etc from work.

My question is...

Hi all

I am a regular poster but also work for an occupational benevolent fund. There are many many of these funds that are connected with lots of different industries, although quite often people don't know they exist.

For anyone being made redundant at the moment, they may find a benevolent fund that can help - some offer grants, some training and some have advice / counselling.

Hi

My OH is about to be made redundant for the second time in less than a year. The first time was in Feb 2008 and he received contributions-based JSA for six months before finding work in August.

Could anyone tell me whether he would be entitled to JSA again after such a short period of employment? :confused:

A question about : Enforced Shutdowns

The company i work for had an enforced weeks shutdown added onto the end of the Christmas holiday where they paid only Ј20.48 per day for the 5 days.
They can do this every 13 weeks if business does not pick up.
Not much we can do about this will just have to see what happens next.

hi there does anyone know of any companies who offer income protection within the construction industry, it seems that most have stopped offering to people who work in banks and construction

Hi, first post but long time browser of MSE...

Made redundant Nov 08 but I knew it was coming anyway and not wanting to miss out on a large payoff having been at the same company for 12 years, I took the decision to take the axe. I've been looking for jobs prior to me leaving for good but there just isn't much out there especially in the Midlands for telecomms.

Oh and to add to my stress my partner's recently given birth to our beautiful daughter!

Ј2500 grant funding available for those who have been made redundant in Wales. You need to of been out of work for 6 weeks and out of work whilst training, more info on the link. Most importantly this payment is a grant not a loan so you don't have to pay back.
