A question about : Redundancy Tax Free Sum And Re Employment

Hi All

After being made redundant 3 months ago. There is now a vacancy within the same company but different department due to someone leaving.

What are the implications on the tax free sum if returning to the same company after 3 month? will the redundancy payment now be subject to income tax?

I am soon to be made redundant. When calculating my redundancy and pilon should the shift allowance I get be included ? I work permanent nights so get this payment on all of my wages.

• Redundancy pay is based on the definition of a weeks pay in the employment act.
  The date for service to calculate redundancy and PILON are different so if close to a full year it could be important.

I have decided to try and take voluntary redundancy after 32 years at a large company.

If I am offered a job at a lower salary band, protected salary but no rises, similar but reduced skill set required, same location, will I risk losing the right to redundancy if I refused? Would that be constructive dismissal?

If a draft redundancy package has been offered and based on that and other reasons, I choose VR, if the redundancy is incorrect, can they change it before acceptance? Can I change it before acceptance?

I have been headhunted for a new business unit within an international company. I have been promised this was the beginning of a big project and scope would increase in time. I made my decision based on that promise and accepted the position. Company director came to the office one day and announced the closure after 4 months they hired me. I have raised the question about why I was misled and the reply was that people hired me did not know anything.

I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that there is to be another round of VERS for civil servants, but not sure which department this refers to. Anyone heard that the MOD is planning another round any time soon please? Thanks.
