  • The forum rules say:

  • Yes, I am asking them aswell, hadn't read rules sorry.
  • Try personalising your page a bit more too Zoe and then bugging everyone you know by mailing everyone in your address book. I put a personal picture on mine and changed the set text to say a little about myself - have a look if you like and steal some inspiration, my page is under the same name as my MSE username. It encouraged a few people to sponsor me online, others will have to have the sponsor form waved under their nose (even my Mum doesn't want to do it online). Mind you there has been no sign of my pack arriving yet even though I signed up in mid March.
I'm sure those elusive sponsors will soon arrive.
  • If it's appropriate I would say something about being PROactive instead of REactive with regards to giving money to Cancer Research. I find that people are understandably very keen to donate money to this charity when someone they know gets cancer or dies from it. I think it would be better to donate the money BEFORE someone they know gets cancer in order to aid their chances of there being a cure or effective treatment which could save their lives IF they were to get it. It makes sense to me but I do have an odd way of looking at things sometimes.
Also don't be embarrassed about asking people. Remember you're the one doing something to help others. How about approaching companies for sponsorship? The Race for Life website has some good ideas. One I thought was good was asking your place of work to match the amount you raise.
Where are you doing it btw? I want to do the one in Manchester but everyone I've asked to do it with me has said no! Mind you, I can only walk it but that's no mean feat for me!
  • Thanks for the help, I will personalise my page when I've got a photo etc to put on.
I'm doing it on the Wirral with my best mate who lives in Manchester!
  • Good luck with it Zoe.. I'm doing it this year with a mate (also called Zoe - I'm sure it's not you! lol). I've found the online sponsor form brilliant!!! There loads of ideas on there website.. sweepstakes etc.. check them out too!
