A question about : Removal of internal load bearing wall, how much approximately?

A question about : 2 storey extension, how much?

Having revised our plans, we're now looking to get a 2 storey extension extension on the back of our house (4m*5.5m).

We'll need to take down 1 interior wall (approx 14ft) & part of what is currently an exterior wall (approx 7ft) and the new roof will be built into the existing roof. We'll also remove an old chimney stack while we're at it.

Our architect has agreed that everything we want is possible, but could anyone give us a rough idea of price?

A question about : Is my quote a good price?

Ive been quoted a total Ј470 including VAT to buy and install a double panel radiator in my studio flat including connecting 2 pipes from behind the cooker to other side of room, to be completed in a day. I wont have to pay until the job is complete and approved by me. They are corgi registered. Is this too high or acceptable? Any advice is much appreciated. :confused:

A question about : Price for installing gas cooker

Hi there

Just wondering if Ј90-Ј95 is a fair price for installing a gas cooker. It seems a bit on the expensive side to me.
There is a copper pipe but no other fittings are available (unless they arrive with the cooker?).
Also, will a CORGI gas installer be able to wire in the electrics (there's some lights inside the ovens)

A question about : New kitchen quote

We'll soon be moving to a new home and we're toying with the idea of replacing the kitchen. Last time round we used Kitchens Direct and, although the units are great and the final result was excellent, we had so much grief from them that we never ever want to go with a high pressure sales company again. Also, it felt like they were plucking numbers out of thin air and to this day I feel we were ripped off to the tune of Ј6000, which by the way only included three fitted appliances apart from the cabinets (one of them claimed to be 'free'!).

Hi,
We have had a deal offered to us by Anglia First Home Improvements for 10 windows, several larger windows. They quoted us Ј9,800 but as they want to use our house to advertise their windows they were going to give us a discount meaning we would pay Ј6,800. We got him down to Ј5,650 but don’t really know if this is a fair quote or not...

A question about : Block Paving Quotes

I am thinking of having a company to lay block paving to the front of my house to make a driveway.

I know you should have 3 quotes for the job,but i have rang about 6 different companies so far,and only 2 have come round to measure up.

The first company spent all of 5 mins taking measurements but have not contacted me since.

A question about : Paying deposit before builder starts working??

Hey guys I'm quite a novice and this might be totally normal practise so I'm just asking...

I've agreed a price with a builder to do a single storey extension for me. He is a nice enough guy tbh and his company is on checkatrade etc... We're about to go ahead but he says he will work in arrears, except for to start with will need a smallish deposit for materials.

Is it normal practice to ask for this?

I got another quote where the builder asked for the same thing.
