A question about : PS Vita 3G 16GB

So my son has an old PSP console that is on its last legs, for his B'day we've decided to get him a PS Vita
We've bought this

3G/Wi-Fi with 16gb memory card and voucher for some games

My understanding (which is limited) is that you use your voucher to download games to the memory card -

Now his sister is going to want one for her birthday - we want to be able to mix games between the two consoles - I obviously want a different 'package' to get some different games -

Does it matter if I get the 8gb memory card for hers like this one

https://www.very.co.uk/ps-vita-8gb-co...questid=629247

Only this seems to be an 8gb console and 8gb memory card - does that mean the console can only download 8gb of games to it without needing extra memory card storage?

Once the games are downloaded to the memory card and its full to capacity do you have to buy further memory cards if you want more games?

Sorry if this is all very basic and dumb but we're used to the old discs that slip in the back of the console!

I basically have bought the first linked console and want to know which to buy if I want to buy a second but with a different package of games....does it need to be a 16gb console?

Best answers:

  • The Vita has no on board memory, it ether downloads stuff on its memory card or games you buy at retail are physical vita game cards which you can swap a'la the UMD discs from the psp.
Saved games and anything downloaded need to be stored on the memory card.
Downloaded games can ONLY be used on a single PSN account, so if your children have different accounts they cannot share memory cards. Additionally the Vita is somewhat infamous of not liking you switching memory cards, so its not really a good idea anyway.
Its probably best in your case to stick to physical copies of the games where possible and buy as large cards as possible initially.
Just as a side note the first one you listed is a 1st generation one and I think the other one you listed is a 2nd generation one (slim),
  • This is a fabulous machine that my 7 & 10 year love. The graphics are the best around for a hand held and the full vita game available are spot one. The game on this mega pack are great for my girls and on a more adult theme wipe out.
