Hi I am interested in reclaiming charges on a packaged account, but since I closed account 2 years ago, I have shredded my old statements. Could I still claim?

• What charges did you incur? or do you mean reclaim the monthly fee? It doesnt matter if you dont have bank statements anymore.
  They are not refundable just because you ask. You need to demonstrate it was mis-sold e.g if it had breakdown cover and you dont drive or you already had AA cover.
• I'd google re-claiming package bank charges and that should take you to the article on MSE that runs through the details on how to do it. I did it with Barclays and started the process by going onto their website and making an online complaint.
• I'm about to embark on reclaiming the monthly bank charges for a black Card Private Account using a reclaim company, my question is around validity of the questions they ask as it has been years (10+)since I took out the package and can't honesty say I remember what was said at the time, is it safe to say ''can't remember''?
• I phoned Halifax yesterday. My account was closed 5.5 years ago, and I no longer have any of the information or bank statements to go with it.
  I called them, gave them my old name and address when I had the account.
  They went away and looked up all the account details, phoned me back this morning and offered me a full refund of Ј1010.
