Self Employed and going to the dogs

A question about : Self Employed and going to the dogs

Hi, My husband has been self employed for over 20 years but for the past couple of years work has dropped dramatically.
Last year he only earned Ј900 profit for the whole of the year.
We never claimed benefits until then when we were awarded working tax credit of Ј83 a week and housing and council tax benefit.
After bills we currently have Ј38 to live on and I am worried about heating costs in the winter,as they are going up Ј40 a month and we have very little work coming in.

Jury Service.

A question about : Jury Service.

I was called up for Jury Service, for October this year, although I got it deferred as I am in university living away from home couldn't make it.
My new date is July 2013, so I thought I'd be living at home again, although I have recently been offered to go to Australia for 3 months this summer June-August, and it is something I really want to do and this opportunity may be a once in a lifetime and I don't want to say no just because of a week in July where I have to do jury service.

Have I been wrongfully dismissed?

A question about : Have I been wrongfully dismissed?

This evening 5.25pm my boss called me into his office and told me I was sacked. He said I had to clear up and leave right away. He gave a very vague reason about how the role hadn't turned out like they expected or was changing.

I have worked there for 4.5 months. I have had great feedback and I know they have no issues with my performance or anything like that. I have no written contract (although I understand from employee law that that doesn't mean I don't actually have a contract, just that it's not written down).

Help with council tax installments

A question about : Help with council tax installments

Hi,

I've recently got a letter from my local council, Making me aware of the fact that my partner & I have fallen behind with our council tax installments. Ive written to them in the past, asking if there is any way i could extend my payments as they are a little on the steep side. Even with council tax benefit (I think our entitlement of this is around Ј10 a week.) Now i'm over Ј125.00 in arrears.

My Neighbour Took Down My Fence

A question about : My Neighbour Took Down My Fence

My neighbour extended his garden into some land at the back of our gardens, which he discovered belonged to him (confirmed by Council who visited and I also attended this visit).

Our gardens go around a corner, so our gardens all narrow to wedges and meet at a central point. What my neighbour did was put up a new fence and in doing so took down my fence, and that of another neighbour (whilst the property was empty, this house being local authority, but my immediate neighbour and I own our houses).
