A question about : New Redundancy Terms Announced.

Here is a link to the new redundancy scheme 2010.

https://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/Ab...Scheme2010.htm

Still trying to work out what I would get if made redundant but whatever it is I know it isn't as good as the old scheme!

Best answers:

  • Good luck trying to work that lot out!
  • If you get any luck working it out please let me know, im just short of 18 years by a couple of months and im ready to go. I had a quick look but its quite confusing. Is it branch/trade specific that they are looking for?
  • Im going to make this a sticky for a few weeks..

  • I would suggest there will be no compulsory redundancy. Tried it with RLC Chefs then back peddled through fear.
There will be voluntary redundancy for a few but not very limited payouts.
7000 Army jobs, 5000 Navy and RAF will be soaked up through normal outflow, recruiting has already been cut to shift the balance.
  • Well, I believe I've worked mine out
    13 years service of 22 = 13 yrs RRS
Not entitled to immediate pension (IP)
    ((Wage/12 months) x 1.5 months pay) x years served
    ((Ј36970/12) x 1.5) x 13
=Ј60076.25 + resettlement grant (served more than 9 years)
    = Ј70000 tax free
but they'll never make me redundant
  • I'm guessing that as my dh is on 26 years in he might aswell plod on until 50 then?
  • or8it,
I have removed the post. I was unsure if the information was taken direct from the MOD intranet, or from the internet.
Can you please repost, and insert a link to the internet, and not post information directly from the internal intranet.
At the minute MSE is IGS/EGS friendly, though this can easily be removed.

  • Alias,
I took it direct from the email sent to me from our admin cell. I queried if the Galaxy Brief was classified and was told it wasn't and that they had been told to disseminate to everybody.
The popular Rum Ration forum also has this info.
    https://www.navy-net.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=30566.html
And here is another link on the Naval Families Federation website.

    Quote:
  • The latest news before leave was that this is across all three Services but with slightly different timing - about a month between each. They will ask for volunteers, but when the volunteers' profiles don't match exactly what they want, there will be compulsory redundancies (with 12 months' notice to leave). Profiles aren't worked out yet, but will be by Service, branch/specialization, rank, length of service etc, and no compulsory redundancies for those in Afghan.
    Watching and waiting.
  • So then does anyone have any inside info into exactly what "Profiles" they want (esp Army ranks)??
  • OK, here's another link to the Government website laying down the legislation for the Armed Forces Redundancy Scheme 2010.
    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2.../contents/made
Remember this is for personnel who are on the old AFPS75.
It is quite heavy going but hopefully it will be translated into more understandable text when JSP 764 is updated (when this will happen I do not know).
  • Finally JSP 764 has been updated to reflect those made redundant after 6 April 2010. A link to the relevant JSP and part may be found here:
    JSP 764 Part 5
It looks like they have gone back on their initial plan to change the rules on 1st April 2013 and the rules now change (obviously for the worst) on 1st January 2016.
All I know is I'll be long gone before then!
I'd also like to point out to any moderators that this is an UNCLASSIFIED link to the mod INTERNET site.
  • Thanks Or8it..
  • The official Armed Forces Redundancy Calculator has now gone live and may be found at the link below.
