Stamp Duty

A question about : Stamp Duty

Question for you all.

My parents house is currently for sale at Ј320,000. It is now out of contract with the estate agent.

Are they legally allowed to sell it to me for Ј249,995 and therefore leave me paying 1% stamp duty?

Finally would it be legal to give them a tax free gift (Ј10,000?) once a year for 7 years?

Any thoughts on doing this legally?

cheers

Mark

stateside tracker

A question about : stateside tracker

is there many on this board who have a stateside tracker mortgage. I was considering skiptons stateside. my mortgage is small 52k, and I think the risk would maybe be worth taking. I would consider much more if my mortgage was much higher, in your expert opinion, what could the rates rise to, and do you think they will rise. I do not know the historical rates and I am asking for an educated guess I suppose.

LIBOR still dropping...

A question about : LIBOR still dropping...

There has been a bit of mild panic about good fixed rates drying up over the last week or two and I can't really see why.

It looks to me like the LIBOR is still dropping day by day, the economy is nowhere near recovery and we're probably not really seeing the full effects of the quantitative easing yet. Other than banks trying to push the idea of the best fixed rates disappearing...grab them quick, is there really any hard data to justify this idea?
