Hello, I've spent a lot of this week trying to sort out my finances, cancelling un-needed things, sorting out utilities etc, managed to shave Ј800 off my debts in a month, credit card balance cleared!! Now I've started to think about my mortgage - details in my signature.

Bit about me: I joined MSE way back in 2006, aged 20, as a student looking to make her money go further. Since then, I've graduated, done a post grad, got a job, made redundant, got a temporary job, moved house, then got a permanent job and bought a house!

Me and DH (we got married in 2012) moved in on 20/12/2012 and we begin our next chapter. The house is lovely, although there is still lots to unpack and sort out

A question about : The Mortgage-Free Mission

Hello MFWs,

I’m a long time lurker on these boards and have decided to take the plunge and start a diary. I’ll be joining the ranks of the six-figure mortgages thanks to a property move in September 2013.

So here’s a little bit about me. I live with my husband in north London, no kids (yet, but that could change in a couple of years). I’m 32 and he’s 35.

A question about : Ramjet's Mortgage Free Mission

So it starts...

Current mortgage is Ј76400.96 - with monthly repayments currently at Ј798. The mortgage is 2 years into a 5-year fix at a rate of 2.65%. Included in the repayment is approx. Ј40 worth of overpayments. I would be allowed under the terms of the mortgage to pay an additional Ј120 per month whilst the fix is in place.

A question about : Offsetting My Worries (I hope!)

Hey Everyone

It is really encouraging to read how others are progressing with paying off their mortgage, & good to know that there are people out there taking responsibility for their financial decisions too. I find MSE is a great inspiration particularly at times of temptation or despondency (plenty of that about at the moment!), so at the risk of being a mortgage bore I thought I'd share my efforts and plans.
