A question about : Advice

Just starting to get started on divorce/seperation from my wife due to lots of issues with her drinking. I have two children both primary school age. At the moment I am in the house with the kids and she is at her mothers. I have been to the building society and sorted out that I can afford to remortgage the house to buy her out.

Has anybody been in a similer situation, just wondered if anyone could give any thoughts on anything I may not of thought about that I need to consider before everything gets official.

MoneySaving Dads

A question about : MoneySaving Dads

What's the new board for?

Have you just found out you're going to be a father and have no idea what nappies cost?

Dad of several and don't know how to afford all the school dinners?

If you're a dad and a MoneySaver this is the place to discuss your MoneySaving issues.

For general questions not related to MoneySaving please post on the Marriage, Relationships & Families board.

Engagement ring

A question about : Engagement ring

Hello all.

So after living with my girlfriend for just a month we found out we're expecting.

That in mind I'm looking to propose to my girlfriend of two years.

I've saved up around Ј2k and I'm looking to get a nice ring for her.

Ideally I want a platinum ring (they stay brighter for longer than white gold) then a nice diamond in it.

Given the variables in the diamond, cut, quality, carat and colour. I want to make sure I get the most for my money.

Separation financial advice

A question about : Separation financial advice

Hi all,

First time posting.

I'm just after a quick rough overview on finances. We currently have a mortgage on a house with a lot of equity in, and two great children.

We are on the verge of separating which we both agree to but I wondered what kind of maintenance I would be expected to pay, and thinking longer term, would I give up any rights to future equity on the house should the ex stay in the house with children for the next 10 years?
