My husband and I like to take advantage of special 'oldies' offers at food outlets, but the only national ones I know of are the Taybarns' Wise Ones (not as nice as it used to be , but Ј4.50? 9-5 weekdays) and Hungry Horse's Golden Years (Ј4.49 any time weekdays).

Are there any more ?

• I do not know where you are, and not specifically for oldies, many pubs, not chains offer lunch at around Ј4, as do national chains like Wetherspoons

• Join the Diamond Dining Club which is exclusively for over 50's.Free to join and can used in a number of chains such as The Great British Carvery,Orchid pubs and Do Drop Inns.You get special Diamond Club menus and also collect loyalty points for further money off coupons.

  Crown Carveries roasts start at Ј3.69 (Gammon & Turkey) for a small portion going up to Ј4.39 for a standard size with the addition of roast beef.No special concessions for us seniors but very very good value.

  It might be worth trying these. 2 for 1 or 25% off whole Bill in lots of chains and some local places.
  The card is on offer at Ј29.95 at movement. We've saved far more than that.
