A question about : Match & More..... Doesn't

I do my weekly shop at Morrisons and have been looking at their Baileys prices (Ј18 for 1 litre). No problem I thought, it's Ј12 at Tesco so they'll price match it when I get it with my groceries.

WRONG!! Checked my receipt and the bill showed .67p cheaper elsewhere on a Ј40 shop. I went to customer services to ask why it wasn't price matched and was told We can't be price matching against Tesco todaytitle=Mad

It turns out that they may only price match 1 or 2 supermarkets per week and change them to suit.

The first thing you read on the Match and more logo is

We now price match to Aldi and Lidl...
...as well as Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda

and in the FAQ's

What is Price Match?
Price Match compares the total value of the qualifying branded and own brand goods in your basket with the comparable branded and own brand goods from each of Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl. If the total value of comparable products is cheaper than Morrisons you will receive the difference in points at the rate of 10 points to 1 pence on your Morrisons Match & More Card provided you have spent Ј15 or more.

I think I will be emailing Morrisons CS for clarification as it should read

We now price match to Aldi and Lidl...
...as well as Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda when it suits us and as long as they aren't too cheap

BTW Baileys was refunded title=Smile

  • As it says in your own quote above - the comparison is based on the total price of your shop - not price matching item by item.
  • [QUOTE=hollie.weimeraner;67045841]. . . I went to customer services to ask why it wasn't price matched and was told "We can't be price matching against Tesco today"

I think that just shows that the Customer Service staff member did not understand the system which Morrisons operate.
Were you actually told by Morrisons staff that they price match against different supermarkets in different weeks?
  • The other thing Match and More is very quiet about is what about deals such as buy 3 for Ј3 in say Tesco's. Does match and more compare against Tesco's single price, even if you buy 3?
It seems to me that it is still cheaper to go one store, buy their deals and then to morrisons and buy their deals. Or to get maximum return, buy the morrison's deal in one basket and everything not on a deal in another.
  • It's a nonsense scheme. Absolute garbage. Hopefully they'll get rid of it or overhaul it soon.
  • 'Supermarket in cloak and dagger shocker!' You do surprise me.
